Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has extended his condolences following the passing of retired Justice of the Court of Appeal, Ahmad Belgore.
The governor’s message of condolence was conveyed through a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, on Wednesday.
The statement read, “Belgore, who was until his recent retirement the presiding Justice of the Ilorin Division of the Court of Appeal, died on Tuesday night.
“The governor sends his heartfelt condolences to the entire Ilorin Emirate, the bar and the bench, and to the Belgores, who have lost a rare gem.
“Justice Belgore was a legal giant and a foremost community leader who offered his shoulder for many to lean on.”
In a separate message of condolence, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, characterized Justice Belgore’s passing as a significant loss to the Ilorin Emirate and the nation as a whole.
Belgore, aged 70, passed away on Tuesday night in Ilorin, just a few days shy of his 71st birthday.
Born on April 18, 1953, he retired from his position as Justice of the Court of Appeal on April 18, 2023, at the age of 70.
