Gov. Abiodun appoints Oladunjoye as senior media consultant

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has designated Tunde Oladunjoye, the former chairman of Ijebu East Local Government, as his senior media consultant.

In an appointment letter dated December 11, 2023, and personally signed by the governor, congratulations were extended to Oladunjoye. He serves as the publicity secretary of the Ogun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Oladunjoye previously served as the assistant publicity secretary of the Directorate of Strategic Communications for the APC-Presidential Campaign Council, focusing on Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Additionally, he was a member of the Publicity Committee during the APC presidential primary.

Known for his expertise in arts, social policy, politics, human rights reporting, and media advocacy, Oladunjoye has a substantial background in covering major global events. Over several years, he reported on prominent occasions such as the Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France, the Pan-African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso, Nigeria’s Eminent Persons Agricultural Summit in Geneva (2013) hosted by President Goodluck Jonathan, and the World Hunger Summit held in the UK in 2013. He was also part of the Presidential Delegation to the World Economic Forum in Switzerland in 2013.

In 2012, the Federal Government appointed Oladunjoye to the Strategic Media Communication Committee of the Agricultural Transformation Agenda (ATA). Subsequently, he served as the Media Adviser to Nigeria’s Minister for Agriculture, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, from 2012 to 2014. Later, he assumed the role of National Media Consultant to the World Bank/FGN under the FADAMA III Additional Financing Project from 2016 to 2018.

As a published poet, Oladunjoye curated “Activist Poets: An Anthology of Nigerian Pro-democracy Activists” in 2002, sponsored by the French Government through the French Cultural Centre in Ikoyi, Lagos. His involvement extends to serving as a resource person for UNESCO and a Peer Reviewer for the World Bank. In 2001, he worked as a Resident Journalist with the House of Journalism in Lome, Togo, and in 2005, he served as a Visiting Journalist to Nigeria’s Permanent Delegation to UNESCO in Paris, France, under the leadership of Professor Michael Omolewa. In 2014, Oladunjoye was a UNICEF Scholar in South Africa, focusing on the Design and Implementation of Social Protection in Africa.

His contributions include roles as a Board Member for the Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation, a Member of the Governing Council of Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Chairman of Ogun State Television (OGTV), a Member of the Governing Council for Federal Polytechnic, Ukanna, Akwa Ibom State, and a Member of the Ogun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board. In recognition of his efforts, he was appointed as the United Nations Youth Ambassador for World Peace in 2008.
