Gov Alia submits first batch of commissioner nominees to Benue Assembly for screening

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has submitted the names of eight Commissioner nominees to the Benue State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation.

The move follows the recent dismissal of the previous Commissioners and Chief of Staff, Mr. Paul Biam, who was replaced by former banker Mr. Moses Atagher.

According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Tersoo Kula, the nominees include: Mrs. Theresa Ikwue, Dr. Benjamin Ashaver, Dr. Ijaguwa Adamu, Dr. Peter Egbodo, Dr. Yangien Ornguga, Denis Iyaighgba, James Dwem, and Dr. Paul Ogwuche.

The statement read in part: “Governor Hyacinth Alia has transmitted the first batch of Commissioner-nominees to the Benue State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation in line with constitutional provisions.

“This development marks a significant step in enhancement of the machinery of governance and ensuring effective service delivery across various sectors.”

It further noted that a second batch of nominees would be forwarded to the Assembly in the coming days.

The Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to transparency, competence, and inclusivity in the appointment of individuals who will help actualize his vision and mission for the state.
