Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has allocated the sum of ₦2,936,000,000.00 to support 25,500 flood victims and vulnerable individuals across the state who may have been affected by national disasters.
The Governor presented the funds to the beneficiaries at the Government House Banquet Hall in Damaturu. He also provided financial assistance to 15,000 small business owners and start-ups, offering ₦100,000.00 each to help boost their incomes as part of his recovery and empowerment initiatives.
“Today’s event marks the launch of two transformative initiatives: (1) Support for 25,500 Flood Victims and Vulnerable Groups, with an investment of ₦1.43 billion. We are providing ₦50,000 to each beneficiary to help them rebuild their lives and regain stability.
“In recognition of the crucial role of small businesses in driving grassroots economic growth, we are disbursing ₦1.5 billion to assist 15,000 small business owners and entrepreneurs, promoting financial inclusion and stimulating local economies. Each beneficiary will receive ₦100,000 to support their businesses and sustain their livelihoods. This totals over ₦2.93 billion in support for the beneficiaries,” he stated.
Governor Buni explained that these initiatives align with the core principles of his administration: to protect vulnerable groups, empower citizens, and create pathways to self-reliance and prosperity. He emphasised that the investments in flood victims, vulnerable communities, and small business owners aim to address immediate recovery needs and lay the groundwork for long-term economic resilience.
The Governor assured that his government would continue to provide free education, accessible and affordable healthcare, technological advancements, and economic incentives to empower disadvantaged individuals and promote economic growth.
“I wish to assure you that the government will provide all necessary support for the establishment of the proposed Early Childhood Development Education Centre in the state,” he added.
He also reiterated his administration’s commitment to transparency and efficiency in the implementation of policies and all intervention programmes, ensuring accountability in the distribution of resources to the people.
