The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, has dismissed Dr. Bassey Okon from his position as Commissioner for Special Duties.

A statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Enobong Uwah, did not provide reasons for the termination of the commissioner’s appointment. Instead, it instructed Okon to transfer all government property under his jurisdiction to the ministry’s permanent secretary.

Uwah also announced that the affairs of the ministry would be overseen by the Secretary to the State Government until a new commissioner is appointed.

The statement expressed gratitude to the commissioner for his service on the state executive council and wished him success in his future endeavors.

“In an ongoing effort to reposition this administration in line with the ARISE Agenda, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Umo Eno, has relieved Dr Bassey Okon, Commissioner for Special Duties, as Commissioner in the Akwa Ibom Executive Council with immediate effect,” the statement partly read.
