The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, has again awarded additional N10,000 to the salary of the state workers.

The statement was delivered by the governor at the Pa Oruta Ngele Stadium in Abakaliki, the state capital, during the celebration of 2024 Workers Day.

Remember that in July 2023, after only a few short months in office, Governor Nwifuru raised state employees’ salaries by N10,000 while declaring that the welfare of these employees would be his top priority.

In his speech to commemorate Workers Day in 2024, Nwifuru emphasized that civil servants have continued to be collaborators in advancement.

He declared that his administration’s goal is to improve good governance and increase worker productivity in particular by maintaining and strengthening the current cooperative work environment and industrial harmony.

After the extra N10,000, Ebonyi workers will have received a N20,000 boost in less than a year under the Nwifuru-led government.

In the meantime, the state chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Professor Egwu Ogugua, read a speech in which he called on the state government to hire more teachers for public primary and secondary schools, highlighting some of their hardships.

They thanked the governor for his kindness toward the Ebonyi workers.
