Gov Lawal appoints new Emir of Gusau

Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, has approved the appointment of Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim Bello as the new Emir and Sarkin Katsina of the Gusau Emirate.

Alhaji Abdulkadir becomes the 16th Emir of the Gusau Emirate Council, succeeding his father, the late His Royal Highness Ibrahim Bello, who passed away on July 25, 2025, after ten years of dedicated service.

The announcement was made by the Secretary to the State Government, Abubakar Mohammad Nakwada, who noted that the appointment followed the traditional recommendation of the Gusau Emirate kingmakers, in line with existing customs and applicable laws.

The newly appointed Emir, Alhaji Abdulkadir Ibrahim Bello, is the eldest son of the late monarch and previously held the traditional title of Bunun Gusau.

Governor Lawal congratulated the new Emir and urged him to uphold the distinguished legacy of his ancestors, particularly as a descendant of Malam Sambo Dan Ashafa.

He also encouraged the Emir to serve as a symbol of unity, peace, and progress, fostering harmony and development within the Gusau Emirate and beyond.
