Governor of Enugu State, Dr Peter Mbah, has commended operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) for apprehending suspected kidnappers and gunrunners operating in the state.

During a visit to the DSS command headquarters in Enugu, Mbah lauded the agency for its professionalism, discipline, and efforts in ensuring a peaceful Easter celebration. He urged the operatives to sustain the momentum, describing security as a fundamental responsibility of government.

The governor expressed particular satisfaction with the arrest of a notorious gang leader allegedly linked to multiple attacks on security personnel and kidnapping incidents across Enugu and neighbouring areas.

“The good people of Enugu State are grateful for the peaceful atmosphere, especially around the Easter period, brought about through the efforts of the Service and other Security Agencies in the state,” he said.

He expressed confidence that those arrested would face justice, noting that their criminal network had already been disrupted.

“It is your duty to sustain the tempo of security service delivery, as this remains the primary essence of Government and can never be taken for granted,” he added.

Mbah also reiterated his administration’s commitment to making Enugu a safe destination for tourism, business, and residence, expressing optimism that continued security efforts would rid the state of criminal elements.

He further lamented that some individuals had abandoned moral values to engage in criminal activities, stressing that the full force of the law would be applied against offenders.
