Gov Okpebholo signs N675b 2025 Appropriation Bill

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has signed the 2025 Appropriation Bill, amounting to ₦675 billion and titled the “Budget of Renewed Hope for a Rising Edo,” into law following its passage by the Edo State House of Assembly.

During the signing ceremony at the Government House in Benin City, Governor Okpebholo stated that the budget is designed to revitalize Edo State’s economy and ensure the delivery of democratic dividends to its citizens.

Governor Okpebholo said: “I have just signed into law, a budget of 675,220,058,858.52 tagged a renewed Hope budget for a rising Edo. It is hoped that the 2025 approved budget will revive the economy of Edo State and deliver the dividend of democracy to the good people of the state.”

The governor highlighted that special attention was given to allocating a larger percentage of the budget to capital expenditure, reflecting the administration’s commitment to initiating extensive capital projects in the upcoming fiscal year.

Governor Okpebholo also praised the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, and other members of the Assembly for their swift consideration and approval of the budget.

Earlier, while presenting the bill to the governor, Rt. Hon. Agbebaku noted that the budget was increased significantly from the initial ₦605 billion to ensure greater funding for the agricultural sector.
