Governor Gboyega Oyetola on Tuesday commissioned a rehabilitated and renovated Science Laboratory at the Nawair-Ud-Deen Grammar School (NUDGS), Oke-Baale, Osogbo, the Osun State capital.

Speaking at the commissioning, the Governor, ably represented by Mr Adeleke Yekini Adedayo, the Honourable Commissioner for Local Government, Social and Rural Development said the impact of the renovation on performance of students and morale of staffers of the school cannot be overemphasized. He said both teachers and students alike will be in good frame of mind to teach and learn in the new and modest atmosphere. The Governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to further improving the standards of education in the state.

On his part, the Chairman, Board of Governor and President, NUDGS Alumni Association, Prof Prof. Waheed Babatunde Yahya while interacting with newsmen said the rehabilitation and renovation of the laboratory “couldn’t have come at any better time.”

Explaining how the project was funded, Prof. Yahya said: “The project was funded and anchored by OSUN CARES under Osun Community Social Development Agency (CSDA) with a counterpart funding from NUDGS Alumni Association that birthed Oke-Baale Community Project Management Committee (CPMC) under my Chairmanship.

“This intervention from the government has added tremendous value to the giant efforts of the Alumni Association of the school towards improving the school’s infrastructural facilities to ease teaching and learning activities in the school.”

Speaking on other projects undertaken by the association in the school, the Professor of Statistics in the Department of Mathematics & Statistics, University of Ilorin said: “No too long ago, the NUDGS Alumni with me as the President, took it upon ourselves to pioneer the construction of blocks of 12 classrooms including the Principal and Vice-Principal’s offices which had been completely damaged due to long time of neglect. A whopping sum of about four million Naira was committed by the Alumni body to this project under my watch.

“I am highly delighted to announce that my Alma Mater, NUDGS Oke-Baale, Osogbo is now wearing a new look in terms of rapid infrastructural development.”

Prof. Yahya appreciated NUDGS Alumni members, the school management and the Osun State Government for their commitment at ensuring that the project becomes reality.

“I appreciate all members of the NUDGS Alumni, the Project Monitoring Committee, the NUDGS Management under the workaholic Principal, Mrs Fausat Adefaye and last but not the least, the State government of Osun for this timely intervention,” Prof. Yahya concluded.
