The Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has said that empowering constituents is meant to help them succeed and excel in various areas of life.
He made this known in Ohafia during an empowerment programme organised for Arochukwu/Ohafia constituents by their representative, Ibe Okwara Osonwa.
Represented by Deputy Governor Ikechukwu Emetu, Otti explained that the initiative is focused on promoting self-reliance and economic growth.
“This programme is deliberately designed to help our people to help themselves. It is about empowering individuals with the means to generate income, build businesses, and become contributors to the economic growth of their community.
“When people are given the right tools and opportunities, they are better positioned to lift themselves out of poverty and, in turn, uplift others. This approach aligns perfectly with the vision of the Administration of Alex Otti, to move our people away from dependency and towards productivity, enterprise, and self-sufficiency”.
He added that the administration remains committed to improving the welfare and economic well-being of residents.
He further stated, “Today’s programme is a powerful testament to global school leadership and people-centred governance. It goes beyond mere distribution of items.
“It is about creating opportunities for self-reliance, dignity, and sustainable livelihoods. I wish to specially commend Ibe Okwara Osonwa, for this thoughtful and impactful initiative. By providing buses, motorcycles, freezers, sewing machines, grinders, other tools, and not forgetting, energy-efficient equipment like graders and pay loaders to be able to create a new pathway in our federal constituency”.
Otti encouraged beneficiaries to make good use of the items, stressing that success depends on diligence and responsibility.
“Let them become sources of income, stability, and progress for you and your families. Remember, empowerment yields results only when it’s matched with hard work and responsible use.
“Let me also emphasise the importance of synergy with the government. The leaders at all levels should collaborate with sincerity of purpose. The dividends of democracy become more visible and impactful in the lives of our people”.
Earlier, Osonwa reaffirmed his commitment to serving his constituents, while Ginger Onwusibe also praised the initiative.
