Gov Sani approves ₦72,000 new minimum wage

Governor Uba Sani has approved a new minimum wage of ₦72,000 for civil servants in Kaduna State, effective from November 2024.

A statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Musa, noted that this decision reflects the administration’s dedication to advancing workers’ interests and improving the living standards of the poor, vulnerable, and underserved in Kaduna State.

This aligns with Governor Sani’s longstanding commitment to promoting and protecting workers’ rights, enhancing their welfare, and supporting the disadvantaged.

Additionally, the statement announced that Governor Sani will launch a Free Transportation Scheme for civil servants by introducing 100 CNG-powered buses.

These buses will provide transportation to and from work for civil servants, aiming to ease their burdens and boost productivity.

A Joint Management Committee, comprising representatives from organized labor groups (NLC and TUC) and the State Government, will be established to oversee the Free Transportation Scheme.

“The Kaduna State Government will continue to fashion and implement policies and measures to bring succour to the people. We are committed to transforming the lives of the less privileged. With the sustained support of our citizens, we shall make Kaduna State a Model for Social Welfare Interventions,” the statement read.
