Gov. Udom, others for UK political summit

The governor of Akwa Ibom State, Umo Eno, and his predecessor, Udom Emmanuel, will speak at the House of Commons in Westminster tomorrow, the first day of the three-day Eighth Annual London Political Summit and Awards (LPSA). Emmanuel is scheduled to deliver the keynote address, according to the organizers, Cater and Merger Consult UK.

Additionally scheduled to deliver speeches are two Members of Parliament (MPs), namely Paul Bristow, who also serves as the host of the Westminster session, and Jonathan Ashworth.

Dr. Morie Manyeh, the High Commissioner of Sierra Leone to the United Kingdom, is set to represent the President of Sierra Leone during the event. In a statement released by the organizers, it was announced: “This year’s summit is going to be focusing on the dynamics of political culture and structure, by discussing the ‘four Ps’ that shape a community, ‘People, Place, Politics and Power’, which is the theme of the summit.”

On the following day, the summit will transition to the London Borough of Southwark, where Eno will be welcomed by Mayor Councillor Michael Shittu for a mayoral session.

The organizers have mentioned that the London Southwark People’s Assembly (LSPA) is exploring the potential for a “City Twinning agreement” between the London Borough of Southwark and The City of Uyo. This initiative aims to establish a cooperative and partnership relationship between the two cities for the mutual socio-economic development of both communities.

The summit will conclude on Friday with an awards ceremony.

“There would be awards for the African President of the Year, African Leader of the Year, Parliamentarian of the Year, LPSA Ambassador of the Year, London Borough Mayor of the Year, LPSA Business Leader of the Year, and many more,” the statement added
