Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has given the State Administration of Criminal Justice Monitoring and Coordination Committee a firm order for them to see to it that all criminal cases filed with the state’s court are handled properly.

In charge of the four judges’ swearing-in ceremony in the Government House Chambers early this morning, Governor Radda issued the command.

Nuraddeen Abdulmumini, Halima Lawal Bagiwa, Abdullahi Bara’u Faskari, and Maa’ruf Amiru Sanusi are the four justices that the Kastina Governor swore in.

The freshly sworn-in judges, Nuraddeen Abdulmumini, Halima Lawal Bagiwa, Abdullahi Bara’u Faskari, and Maa’ruf Amiru Sanusi, received praise from Governor Radda. He emphasized their outstanding professional credentials, steadfast devotion, and unquestionable honesty, qualities that justified their nomination following a careful and thorough selection procedure. The governor pleaded with the judges to regard their nominations as a holy call to duty, requiring unflinching commitment, professionalism, and devotion to their moral compass.

Malam Radda emphasized the urgent need for vigilant case management within the state’s judicial system while reiterating his commitment to the efficient operation of the state’s high court of justice in response to the growing worry that suspects are being released despite serious charges.

He also highlighted the negative effects of such releases, which may have led to an increase in kidnappings, abductions, and the tragic loss of innocent lives. He also expressed his deep concern over instances where suspects, including bandits, terrorists, armed robbers, and rapists, were granted bail.

Radda emphasized the significance of holding the legal community accountable, adding that certain Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) members appeared to be using the cause of fundamental human rights to further their own personal agendas. He strongly argued that these acts must not compromise the state’s unwavering pursuit of justice and security.

The governor also disclosed plans to change the 2021 Katsina State Penal Code Law and the 2021 Katsina State Administration of Criminal Justice Law in a coordinated effort to improve the effectiveness of justice administration. These changes are made with the express purpose of encouraging harmonic cooperation among all involved in the legal system and accelerating the conclusion of cases involving arrest, investigation, and prosecution.

Governor Radda also hinted at a reassessment of the Security Challenges Containment Order that would place a focus on holding informants who help and abet illegal activity accountable. This important step is to reduce support for banditry and the related crimes.
