Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State has blamed the rising security challenges in the state on informants and the insufficient presence of security personnel.

He made this statement during a condolence visit to Zogirma community in Bunza Local Government Area, where armed attackers recently killed three mobile policemen.

The governor clarified that the assailants were neither Lakurawa nor known bandits, but criminals allegedly invited by local informants.

“Those who killed the policemen are not Lakurawa or bandits. They are thieves, brought in by informants to steal the funds we gave to victims of the windstorm disaster,” Idris said.

He announced plans to introduce an executive bill that would criminalise the act of aiding criminals through information sharing.

“We will sponsor an executive bill to make acting as an informant a serious crime. If found guilty, the offender could face the death penalty,” he warned.

Governor Idris reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting peace and order in the state.

“We will not tolerate any threats to the peace and stability of Kebbi State. We are fully committed to flushing out all such threats,” he stated.
