Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of Delta State and the Peoples Democratic Party’s vice presidential running mate, has advised party members to capitalize on the APC’s disarray in Osun State to win the upcoming governorship election in the state.

The PDP’s Osun National Governorship Campaign Council was inaugurated on Wednesday at the party’s Abuja headquarters, where Okowa delivered the keynote address.

“From the information that we have, the APC is already in disarray in the state but that is not enough for us to go to sleep.

“We are very much aware of the events that took place four years ago. There is no doubt that the PDP won that election but unfortunately, we were cheated out of the election. As we move into another election, we are confident that if all of us stay committed to the party, that we will be able to deliver the victory for our party.”

Osun State was unquestionably a PDP state, according to the governor of Delta State. He claimed that certain outstanding leaders had a clear comprehension of the state’s politics. He exhorted everyone in the state, both leaders and followers, to immediately bridge whatever differences that existed among party members because, as he said, “God has gone ahead of the party.”

When he returned from his abroad trip, he further declared that he would join the campaign to ensure the party’s win alongside Atiku Abubakar, the party’s presidential candidate.

“We believe that we are able to redeem Nigeria, rescue it and begin a process of rebuilding this nation. Yes, we were in office and made some mistakes. We have learnt our lessons, we have apologised to Nigerians. We’re coming back as a rebranded PDP and we are going to entrench democracy.”

The council was given the exclusive job of going to Osun State and winning the election for the party, according to the party’s acting National Chairman and Deputy National Chairman for the North, Umar Damagum.

“I believe with the caliber of people that have been selected to steer this campaign organisation, I have no doubt that you will give us the desired result.

“I also want to advise you to use that opportunity to engage the stakeholders in Osun, go to every corner, we have a very popular candidate in Osun and we have no reason not to win the election.

“If it is possible, break yourself into smaller committees to reach out to all and sundry, just make sure you give all it takes to win this election.

“The PDP had constituted an Ekiti Campaign Council that was never inaugurated, which may have resulted to the party’s defeat in the elections.

“With this inuaguaration of this 128-man council, the party has the conviction that it is ready to win the Osun Governorship Election,” Damagum said.
