Governors of Kogi and Kwara States, Yahaya Bello and Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, have endorsed Senator Sani Musa for the position of Deputy Senate President in the 10th National Assembly.
The resolution of the governors of the North Central region backing Musa, senator of the Niger East, was also passed.
On Friday night, just after the lawmakers’ meeting in the Maitama neighbourhood of the city centre where they voted a resolution supporting Musa’s leadership aspirations, the senators-elect for the North Central met with the governors of the zone in the Kwara State Governor’s Lodge Asokoro, Abuja.
Bello and Abdulrazaq met the incoming senators.
Musa, the head of the caucus for the senators-to-be from North Central, led them to the meeting.
Our correspondent discovered that the purpose of the gathering was for the attendees to formally mingle with and become acquainted with their governors, who serve as the political chief executives of their various states.
They also took use of the occasion to inform the governors of the decisions made at their caucus meeting.
At the time, Bello thanked the caucus for convening for the first time to advance the interests of the zone, noting that this had never happened before.
Bello urged all of the zone’s political players, including elected officials from the local government, political appointees, and current and past members of the State and National Assembly, to come together as a single group.
He also assured the federal lawmakers-elect that all the governors of the North Central geopolitical zone would support their aspiration to produce a presiding officer in the 10th National Assembly.
Bello said, “This is the appropriate time for us to unite to pursue a common goal so that North Central Nigeria would take its rightful place in the affairs of the country.”
In his speech, the Kwara State Governor commended members of the caucus for coming together as a team to pursue a common goal.

“The governors of the North Central geopolitical zone will continue to support the aspirations of Senator to lead the 10th Assembly by all means possible, he added.”
The senators-elect on their part appreciated the disposition of the President-elect
