Gunmen have kidnapped Joan Onyemaechi, the former Delta State Commissioner for Technical Education.
Onyemaechi was taken at a church session on DBS Road in Asaba on Tuesday.
Bright Edafe, Delta State Police’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the occurrence.
Her kidnappers shot intermittently before transporting her to an unknown location.
The assailants shot two police officers who were with her, killing one and injuring the other, who is being treated at an unidentified hospital.
However, police officials stated that they were tracking down the gunmen.
Joan Onyemaechi represented the Aniocha/Oshimili federal constituency in the House of Representatives in 2015.
She also represented Aniocha South in the Delta State House of Assembly from 2007 until 2015. She was appointed by Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as Commissioner for Technical Education before resigning earlier this year.
