Gunmen abduct LG staff, filling station attendant in separate Ondo attacks

Gunmen have abducted Samson Gbenga Sanni, a staff member of Akure North Local Government Area in Ondo State, in an attack that occurred on Sunday evening.

According to eyewitness accounts, Sanni, also known as ‘Timber’, was taken at about 7:10pm at his residence in the Agbelere area of the Ilu-Abo community in Akure North LGA.

He was reportedly seized and whisked away by three armed men in the presence of his wife and two children shortly after returning home from work.

Sources said the attackers had earlier laid an ambush for him in a nearby bush before carrying out the abduction.

Olayinka Ayanlade, spokesperson of the Ondo State Police Command, confirmed the incident, adding that operatives and tactical units had been deployed to the area to track the victim and apprehend the perpetrators.

In a separate development, a female filling station attendant was also abducted by suspected gunmen in the Emure-Ile area of Owo Local Government Area.

Eyewitnesses said the attack happened in the early hours of Monday, after the assailants whisked the victim away to an unknown location.
