On Sunday night, gunmen assaulted Ikulu Fari, a Catholic parish in Chawai, Kaduna State’s Kauru Local Government Area.
According to report, the gunmen kidnapped the parish priest, Rev Fr Joseph Shekari, and killed a yet-to-be-identified cook working in the parish house during the attack.
The cook was killed when the marauders stormed the place at 11:30pm on Sunday.
According to reports, the Paramount Chief of the Chawai Chiefdom, Yahaha Mohammed, confirmed the incident. “I am calling on the security agencies to swing into action and ensure the safe returned of the cleric“ ,He said. “Even though we’re yet to established any contact with the abductors, we’re confident he would return safe and sound.”
According to reports, the occurrence was confirmed by the Chawai Chiefdom’s Paramount Chief, Yahaha Mohammed.
“I am calling on security authorities to spring into action and assure the cleric’s safe return,” he said.
Despite the fact that we have yet to make touch with the abductors, we are optimistic he will return safely.”
According to Yohanna Madaki, an eyewitness who characterized the incident as “very devastating,” the abductors allegedly took N2 million cash from a thanksgiving service and other valuables.
