On Saturday morning, armed individuals abducted a senior member of the Niger Delta Development Commission.
Kingsley Okorafor, the victim, was kidnapped in Umuadara Umulogho, an autonomous community in Imo state’s Obowo Local Government Area.
According to reports, the villagers are now in a panic as a result of the abduction.
The community’s traditional ruler, Patrick Uwalaka, confirmed the occurrence and expressed regret at the turn of events.
According to an unamed source, the victim was present at the vigil held on Friday night for Innocent Anyawu, the traditional ruler of the Ndihu autonomous community in Obowo LGA, whose funeral is scheduled for Saturday.
The source said, “The NDDC staff was trailed after he left the vigil to his community where he was abducted, while his car was left behind.”
The source further revealed that the suspects had made contact with the victim’s family and demanded N10 million in exchange for the victim’s release.
Micheal Abattam, the state police’s spokesperson, had not yet responded to a question about the kidnapping.
