Gunmen on Thursday abducted three persons in Enugu State College of Health Technology in Oji River Local Government Area of the state.

DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the incident in a statement on Saturday.

He reported that the Oji River Division of the Command promptly responded to the abduction alert, rescuing two of the victims, while three others remain missing.

Ndukwe noted that intensive efforts are underway to locate and rescue the remaining victims and to apprehend the abductors. Preliminary investigations indicate that the victims were targeted while leaving the college.

The police spokesperson also addressed a viral video that falsely claimed numerous students were kidnapped from the college, calling it a misleading and panic-inducing fabrication.

Ndukwe emphasized that Commissioner of Police CP Kanayo Uzuegbu has directed operatives to ensure the recovery of the missing individuals and the arrest of those responsible.

He also warned against spreading false social media narratives that could undermine police operations and investigations.
