Gunmen kidnap three in Kogi

On Monday, unknown gunmen reportedly kidnapped three family members in Greenland community, located behind 500 Housing Estate in Ganaja, Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident occurred at around 9 pm, causing residents in the community to flee in search of safety.

The gunmen arrived in a Sienna bus and began shooting indiscriminately, targeting their main objective, who happened to be a retired security officer.

Paul Atabor, the Chairman of the Greenland community in Ajaokuta Local Government Area, Kogi State, confirmed the incident on Wednesday.

The details surrounding the kidnapping and the condition of the abducted family members remain undisclosed at this time.

Atabor explained that the incident has been reported to the C Division of the Nigeria Police Force and the Department of State Services, (DSS).

The Chairman further hinted that the community on Wednesday morning received a notice from suspected kidnapping that they are coming back to kidnap more people.

The letter as cited by our correspondent reads” Greenland community, get ready for us, we are coming to get someone”.

One of the family members of the kidnap victim who did not want his name to be mentioned because he was not authorised said that the kidnappers have reached out to the family members and are demanding for ransom to release their victims.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer in Kogi State, SP William Ovye Aya said the headquarter is yet to be briefed about the incident.

He promised that the command will reach out after getting more information about the incident from the Divisional Police Officer, of C Division.
