Gunmen kill many in Yobe village

Suspected Boko Haram insurgents have attacked Mafa Village, located near Shekau, the hometown of the late Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau.

The gunmen raided the village in the Tarmuwa Local Government Area, resulting in numerous fatalities and the destruction of several houses.

The incident occurred on Sunday at around 4 p.m., as residents were returning from their farms.

Police spokesman Dungus Abdulkarim confirmed the attack to Channels Television, noting that details about the incident are still unclear.

”We are yet to ascertain the number of lives lost in the incident, which occurred at about 4 pm on Sunday in the remote village.

“Adamu Hassan, a resident of Mafa residents, reported the incident to the Tarmuwa Divisional Police Station.

“The terrorists also killed many people, but we are yet to ascertain the actual number of the casualties,” the spokesman said.
