Gunmen kill one, kidnap two in Nasarawa

Gunmen have killed a man identified as Garba Yakubu and abducted two others in the Gadabuke community of Toto Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Ramhan Nansel, confirmed the incident. According to him, the assailants attacked the residence of a man named Agaba Yakubu in the early hours of Monday. During the invasion, they shot and killed Garba Yakubu and abducted two other individuals.

“On August 25, 2024, at around 2 a.m., the Divisional Police Officer of Toto Division received a distress call reporting that the residence of one Agaba Yakubu in Gadabuke was invaded by unknown gunmen, resulting in the shooting death of Garba Yakubu and the abduction of two others,” Nansel stated.

He added that the divisional police command responded promptly, arriving at the scene and recovering the victim’s body.

“Upon receiving the information, police operatives moved to the scene, where the victim’s corpse was recovered and later released to the family upon request for burial according to Islamic rites,” he revealed.

Regarding the abductions, Nansel mentioned that the police commissioner has reinforced the Toto Police Division and initiated a search and rescue operation.
