Gwale LG secretariat burnt, Kano deputy gov vows probe

The Kano State Deputy Governor, Aminu Gwarzo, has vowed to thoroughly investigate the recent fire outbreak caused by some miscreants at the Gwale Local Government Secretariat.

Property damage cost millions of naira as a result of the incident.

Gwarzo, who also serves as the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, promised to examine the extent of the damage during a visit to the impacted site on Saturday evening.

He assured the public that the government will investigate the incident thoroughly and bring those responsible to justice.

“We are deeply saddened by this unfortunate incident and the losses incurred.

“We will work tirelessly to investigate the motive behind the ungodly act and ensure that anyone involved faces the full wrath of the law,” Gwarzo stated.

He urged the people of Gwale to remain calm and law-abiding during the investigation.

“We understand the frustration and anger this incident has caused, but we ask for your patience and cooperation as we work to get to the bottom of this,” he added.

According to the Director of Personnel for Local Governments, Alhaji Auwal Danbatta, the fire incident occurred on Wednesday, December 13, 2023.

It engulfed three departments and affected 18 offices within the Secretariat.

The burnt departments include Works, Community, and WASH.

Gwarzo was accompanied on the inspection visit by former Kano State Deputy Governor, Prof. Hafizu Abubakar, the District Head of Gwale, and other top government officials.
