Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, Lagos State Deputy Governor and APC governorship candidate, has pledged to introduce a “HAMZAT Compact” containing 100 specific commitments that residents can use to track his administration’s performance if elected governor.

Hamzat made the promise at a gubernatorial town hall meeting organised by Platform Nigeria, tagged “Millennium and Gen Z Meet Their Lagos State Gubernatorial Candidates.”

He said the compact would outline what his administration plans to deliver, where it would be implemented, the expected cost and the official responsible for each commitment.

“‘Hamzat Compact’ is actually a statement that allows you to know what will be done, where it will be done, what it will cost, and who is responsible. I put my name there. Nobody asked me to do that, because I know I’ll be responsible. These commitments would be open to public scrutiny and tracking of our administration to deliver our promises,” he said.

Hamzat said the initiative, which forms part of his manifesto, “The Promise: Building a State That Lasts,” is intended to strengthen accountability and allow Lagos residents to assess government performance against measurable targets.

He also pledged to establish a dedicated Child Welfare Administration Agency within his first 100 days in office, with the aim of ensuring every child below 18 is either in school or receiving vocational training.

The APC candidate identified child welfare, healthcare, education, transportation and the business environment among the key areas of his proposed administration.

On transportation, he promised to reduce commuting times across Lagos, saying residents should be able to spend less time travelling between their homes, workplaces and businesses.

Hamzat also proposed a State Economic Council to coordinate government charges, reduce the cost of doing business and tackle multiple or unauthorised levies affecting businesses across the state.

He further promised measures to strengthen small and medium-sized businesses, particularly through training in areas such as bookkeeping and staff management.

On inclusion, Hamzat pledged that his administration would not discriminate against residents based on their state or country of origin, provided they live peacefully, work lawfully and do not harm others.
