The Ondo State Government has confirmed that Governor Rotimi Akeredolu is alive and not dead as widely circulated.
It denied the Governor’s rumored demise and declared Akeredolu to be “very much alive.”
A video showing the Governor enjoying the FA Cup final between Manchester United and Manchester City was supposedly posted in response to the rumor.
The state’s Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Bamidele Ademola-Olateju claimed they found evidence that some people were trying to use the misinformation for political gain.
She claimed that the governor has been taking care of state-related issues and, if needed, delegating tasks to government officials.
“We have been inundated with calls and messages concerning the state of health of the Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON. We had chosen to ignore this wicked fabrication until it appeared that certain persons seek to draw political mileage from the disinformation.
“We enjoin the members of the public to ignore the rumour. Aketi is very much alive.”
