Headmaster, two others regain freedom in Kogi
Abiodun Adeyemi, the headmaster of Kingdom Heritage School, Egbe, in the Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State, and two others who were abducted two weeks ago have been released.
The three victims were kidnapped on their way to a burial ceremony in Kabba, but they were released on Sunday night after their captors were paid N1.5 million in ransom.
According to a family source, the headmaster, who had bruises on his body as a result of the kidnappers’ torture, returned home around 8 p.m. and was taken to a hospital in Egbe for medical treatment. However, the female victim was transported to a hospital in Ilorin.
Monday, the spokesman for the Kogi State Police Command, William Aya, confirmed the victims’ release and stated that they have been reunited with their families.
Recall that on Sunday, the kidnappers of senior statesman Isah Ozi-Salami demanded N120 million in ransom for the HYPPADEC board member’s release.
Also, Rev. Father Christopher Onotu, who was abducted by gunmen last Saturday night from his church in Obangede, Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State, remained in captivity with no ransom demand.
