Following a snow and ice emergency, some schools across the United Kingdom were compelled to close for the second day straight.

According to a Daily Mail report, thousands of classrooms were reportedly closed on Monday as an Arctic chill enveloped Britain. Due of the closure, students were assigned to work remotely.

To protect the security of students and employees as they enter during daylight hours, hundreds of schools remained closed on Tuesday, while others chose to start later.

According to Daily Mail, the Met Office has issued a yellow snow and ice warning for northern Scotland and north-east England from Tuesday night until noon on Thursday.

According to reports, Braemer, in Aberdeenshire, reached a low of – 17C and a high of minus 9.3C, the lowest minimum and maximum temperatures since February 2021 and 12 years, respectively.

The following five coldest readings, which included minus 13.1C at Balmoral, were all made in Scotland.

Oli Claydon, a spokesman for the Met Office, predicted that Tuesday would bring further significant snowfall in certain areas.

“Coming into force at midnight tonight all the way through to lunchtime on Thursday, (there is a) large snow and ice warning covering the North-East of England, the whole sort of northern portion of Scotland, as well as the Highlands and islands,’ Claydon said.
