The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the ruling on the bail application for former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello and two others to December 10.

Bello pleaded not guilty to the 16-count charges filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Alongside Bello, Umar Oricha and Abdulsalami Hudu are facing prosecution as the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd defendants, respectively, in the EFCC’s N110 billion fraud case.

During the proceedings, Bello, the primary defendant, firmly denied the allegations when they were presented before Justice Maryanne Anenih.

Following the defendants’ pleas, their counsel, Joseph Daudu, applied for bail. However, the EFCC’s counsel, Kemi Pinheiro, opposed the application, arguing that it had expired in October.

Making clarifications, the Defendant’s Counsel clarified this, saying that the only relevant application before the Court was the motion for bail in respect of the first defendant, which was filed on November 22.

Relying on all the paragraphs of the affidavit, he added that the bail application was also supported with a written address.

Justice Maryanne Anenih ruled that the defendants be remanded in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

The EFCC has filed a suit against the former Kogi State governor, alleging his involvement in N110 billion fraud.
