Hoodlums attack lawmaker, abduct two policemen in Ebonyi

Two policemen were abducted when alleged hoodlums attacked the convoy of Mr Chinedu Awo, lawmaker representing Ohaukwu North constituency in Ebonyi State House of Assembly, the state police PRO, Mrs Lovet Oda, said Monday.

Oda told newsmen in Abakaliki that the affected cops were in the company of the lawmaker on Sunday when the incident occurred.

Mr Awo was said to be on his way to his hometown, Effium, in Ohaukwu local government area when the incident occurred.

Gov Dave Umahi last week suspended construction work at Effium community as a result of Insecurity.

Effium is also where three construction workers were reportedly abducted on Nov 3.

Oda told newsmen that, on Nov 28, 2021, at about 1340hrs, Awo, accompanied by police operatives, went to the community to investigate the missing engineers in the community when they were attacked.
