A tanker driver named Salami Ambali was allegedly assaulted by individuals believed to be hoodlums in the Idimogun Ogijo region of Ogun State.

According to gathered information, the victim, a resident of the Idimu Area in Ejigbo, Ikotun Lagos, was operating a Mack tanker lorry with the license plate T-10440 LAX when he was assaulted by the presumed hoodlums.

An eyewitness, who requested anonymity for fear of retaliation, told reporters that the petrol tanker was filled with product when it was ambushed by the suspects. The suspects used a wheelbarrow to block the driver’s escape route shortly before arriving in Idimogun, Ogijo.

The driver was reportedly to deliver PMS to the Azabat Filling Station, which is not far from the spot where he was ambushed

Sighting the hoodlums who had crossed his route with a wheelbarrow, Ambali was said to have attempted to escape to the filling station, where he was attacked and left with a cut on his right hand.

After receiving intelligence about the attack, the Ogijo Police Division, led by Awode Olatunde, mobilized its resources and raided the scene. Two of the suspects were arrested.

Odutola named the individuals responsible for the attack on the victim as Faruq Idris, aged 36, and Adegbola Lala, aged 30. He further stated that they would charged in court.

She said, “The driver was attacked shortly before arriving at Idimogun in Ogijo when he was driving a truck loaded with petroleum motor spirit that was intended to be delivered to the Azabat Filling Station in Ogijo.”

“The alleged street urchin gave him (driver) a hard pursuit to Azabat Filling Station in Idimogun when he finally managed to escape the ambush, suffering a serious wound on his right hand.”
