HoR Primaries: Uproar in Lagelu Local Government, as Party Chairman Forces Aspirant on Delegates

Uproar erupted in Lagelu Local Government in Ibadan yesterday when the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the local government, Mr. Femi Falowo called the delegates of the party made up of key ward exco members and adhoc delegates to his residence and allegedly instructed them to vote for a House of Representatives aspirant in Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency, Alhaji Abideen Adeaga in the forthcoming House of Representatives primaries and threaten to remove any delegate who votes for someone else.

Newsclickng.com gathered from multiple sources in the Council area that Falowo, a native doctor and an ally of Alhaji Adeaga who is working in tandem with the Oyo State Women Leader, Alhaja Wulemot Ibitoye was initially said to have tried to force the delegates to swear to an oath and when that did not succeed, he brought some black juju and began to rain curses on any delegate who defy his order.

According to some of the delegates who attended the meeting but preferred anonymity for fear of Falowo’s wrath, alleged that the Chairman and Alhaja Ibitoye had collected millions of naira from Alhaji Adeaga and were insistent on forcing Lagelu delegates to vote for Alhaji Adeaga.

Mr. Falowo is alleged to have collected an undisclosed huge sums of money from Alhaji Adeaga and a jeep for the purpose of helping the aspirant to secure the Reps ticket, while Alhaja Ibitoye who this medium gathered has been calling the delegates and threatening to remove them from party positions and get thugs to beat them up, is alleged to have collected unknown amount of money too from the Rep Aspirant.

Alhaji Adeaga is believed to be an unpopular and controversial aspirant who is alleged to have had some past legal problems in Britain which the opposition, the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the local government plans to exploit against him during INEC screening after the conclusion of party primaries.

A PDP chieftain is believed to have posted a message on one of the Lagelu Whatsapp chatgroup alleging that Alhaji Adeaga had in the past had problem with the British police and it is believed that APC is in possession of documents to back up the allegation and get Alhaji Adeaga disqualified if PDP decides to field him as the party’s flagbearer for the House of Representatives election in 2023.

“Alhaji Adeaga is very controversial and he has only school certificate, he doesn’t have a clear and legal source of livelihood, he doesn’t go out to engage in any work but he spends money lavishly. He is also believed to have thugs at his disposal and he has been associated with violent incidents in the past, including the gun attack he initiated against the Lagelu local government Chairman, Alhaji Kazeem Gbadamosi which landed him in DSS custody a few months ago. The man is not capable of winning an election because of the negative incidents associated with him and it will be a pity if Governor Seyi Makinde refuse to stop all these people from making PDP to lose 2023 elections in our local government,” one of the delegate alleged.
