A one-day retreat is scheduled to take place in Abuja on Monday for the chairpersons and deputy chairpersons of House of Representatives Committees.
Focused on the 10th House of Representatives legislative agenda, the retreat will concentrate on the theme, ‘Enhancing Legislative Performance through Effective Committee Management.’
According to House spokesman Akin Rotimi’s statement on Sunday, lawmakers will be guided through international best practices in committee management, standards for conducting legislative hearings and investigations, and an overview of legislative practices and procedures, among other topics.
Rotimi said, “This is beyond just having an activity or a talk shop. As clearly stated in our agenda, for the Green Chamber to creditably discharge its functions, institutional and human resource capacity must be significantly upscaled and strengthened.”
