Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has urged African leaders to work together to build a formidable, political, and economically vibrant continent.

Sanwo-Olu spoke on Friday when he received Isaac Parashina, the Kenyan high commissioner to Nigeria, and his delegation at the Lagos house in Marina.

Parashina was visiting to formally announce his appointment as high commissioner, a role he assumed eight months ago.

Sanwo-Olu praised Kenyans’ resilience and highlighted the potential for both countries to use technology to build a stronger, more vibrant African economy.

“At this difficult moment for global leaders, there is need for us to lean on one another, learn about new innovations, create new inventions,” he said.

“We all need to come together to actualise our dreams to build a formidable, political, and economically vibrant Africa. Kenya Airways and Ethiopia Airways have shown us it can be done.

“We need to ensure that, as African countries, we can reach each other and thrive together.

“Lagos is a hub of entertainment, culture, and art; as long-distance race is synonyms with Kenyans, it’s important to identify each other’s strengths and weaknesses.”

Parashina expressed interest in drawing on Lagos’s youthful creativity to inspire similar initiatives in Kenya’s creative arts sector.

He also sought Sanwo-Olu’s support in establishing a Kenya house in Lagos to serve as his country’s consulate.
