How police arrested six kidnap, robbery suspects in Delta

Six kidnap and robbery suspects in parts of Delta and Bayelsa states have been arrested by operatives of the Delta Police Command.

Out of the six, the trio of Godstime Rufus, 22, Stanley Efeme, 21 and Davidson Esiso, 35, all from Agbarho Community in Ughelli North Local Government Area of the state, were arrested in connection with the abduction of a victim who reported to the police after escaping.

A statement by the Command’s spokesman Bright Edafe, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), said the victim (name withheld) was abducted at 9:30 p.m. on January 22, 2022, along Esiso Street in Agbarho. Fortunately, he escaped while being transferred to another vehicle.

However, the victim later spotted one of his abductors, Rufus and alerted the police, leading to the arrest of the three-man gang.

Similarly, George Akporie, 25, Prosper Asaeta, 29 and Ezekiel Stephen, 23, from Igbide Community in Isoko South Local Government Area were arrested at Sagbama in Bayelsa State in connection with the robbery of a victim.

The 33-year-old victim (name withheld) was allegedly shot on March 5 2021, by three robbery suspects and his Qlink motorcycle was snatched.

The incident, according to the statement, occurred between Olomoro and Ehnwe communities in Isoko South Local Government Area after which the victim was rushed to Olomoro General Hospital. where he was treated and discharged.

But luck ran out of the robbery suspects when, on January 23, 2022, the victim spotted one of the hoodlums around Sagbama in Bayelsa State and immediately alerted the Bayelsa Police Command and the suspects were picked.

Edafe stated that a locally-made gun was recovered from the three suspects and they would be charged to court upon completion of the investigation.
