How to reduce insecurity in Nigeria by over 70% — Minister
The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has said that insecurity in any nation is reduced by more than 70 per cent if its borders are secured.
Tunji-Ojo stated that a country that cannot control its borders and security personnel will always be under strain while delivering a keynote talk as a Special Guest at a breakfast meeting sponsored by Business Day in Abuja.
He reaffirmed his commitment to securing the country’s borders, stating, “I have no reason whatsoever not to secure the nation’s borders.” President Bola Tinubu will resolve issues.
“We must work the talk in line with the present administration’s slogan of Renewed Hope”, he said.
He added that the responsibility of the Ministry of Interior is beyond passport issuance, stating that he would not want to be remembered as the Minister who solves passport problems, “because there are bigger things to solve”.
“Also any country that cannot critically analyse, dictate and determine who comes in and who goes out of its country is prone to insecurity,” he stated.
