I attend, built a celestial church parish – KWAM 1

Popular Nigerian Fuji musician, Wasiu Ayinde, also known as Kwam1, has revealed that he is a Christian, not a Muslim.

This goes against the common belief that Kwam1 is a Muslim, largely because of his first name, Wasiu, and the manner in which his mother was buried.

However, during an appearance on the Agbaletu Radiovision podcast, the ‘Ade Ori Okin’ crooner clarified that he is a committed member of the Celestial Church of Christ.

Reflecting on his spiritual journey, the 68-year-old Fuji legend shared that he had turned to both Christianity and Islam in search of divine intervention, exploring different paths to connect with God during challenging periods in his life.

“Yes, I attend the Celestial church, I’m a bonafide member of the Celestial church of Christ, a proud one. In fact, I built a church.

“During my difficult time, I sought religion and the face of God in two different ways. There’s no place I didn’t seek God’s face,” he said.

The revelation came as a surprise to many of his fans. It’s worth recalling that Kwam1 laid his mother, Alhaja Halima Anifowoshe, to rest in January 2025 following Islamic burial rites.
