Edo State Deputy Governor, Marvellous Godwins Omobayo, reaffirmed his position as the legitimate second-in-command of the state, stating that he continues to fulfill his official responsibilities as mandated by the Nigerian Constitution.
He made this statement on Thursday during a solidarity visit from the leadership and members of the three recognized transport unions in Edo State.
Omobayo emphasized that he remains undistracted by the ongoing legal disputes concerning the Office of the Deputy Governor, and is fully committed to supporting Governor Godwin Obaseki in driving the economic prosperity and transformation of Edo State.
He expressed his gratitude to the unions—the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), and the Edo State Drivers Welfare Scheme—for their unwavering support since he assumed office and their continued loyalty to Governor Obaseki.
Earlier, RTEAN Chairman, Comrade Monday Orhue, and NURTW Chairman, Chief Odion Olaye, explained that the unions had come to pay a solidarity visit to the Deputy Governor to reaffirm their complete support for Governor Obaseki.
Chief Olaye added that their visit was also to pass a vote of confidence in Omobayo as the legitimate Deputy Governor of Edo State, expressing optimism that the Obaseki-led administration would conclude its term successfully.
