Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) for the 2023 election, has reiterated his decision not to commemorate his birthday due to the critical condition of the country.
Despite the fact that he has refrained from celebrating his birthday for the past two decades, Obi expressed his determination to continue this stance.
In a statement posted on his Twitter account on Monday, Obi disclosed that he would be turning 62 on Wednesday, July 19th, 2023.
Despite the urging of his supporters, including the Obedient Family and Labour Party members, to observe his birthday, he urged them to redirect their efforts towards assisting those in need.
Rather than receiving gifts, Obi encouraged his well-wishers to contribute to hospitals, orphanages, and homes for the disabled and elderly. By making such donations, he emphasized the significance of supporting vulnerable and marginalized individuals within society.
While acknowledging the multitude of challenges faced by Nigeria, Obi expressed his unwavering belief that a functional and prosperous country is still attainable.
The former Anambra State governor urged citizens to maintain hope and not give up on their aspirations for a better Nigeria.
