Igboho eviction ultimatum to herders complete falsehood — Police

The Oyo State Police has refuted social media reports claiming that Sunday Igboho issued another ultimatum for herders to leave the South West.

In a statement signed by the command spokesman, Adewale Osifeso, the police clarified that the circulating voice note is false.

The command emphasized that the story regarding the alleged eviction of herders in Igboho, Oorelope Local Government Area, by suspected separatist group members, is misleading and entirely untrue.

The release added that “the viral video which surfaced during the early hours of Tuesday, 16/07/2024 was specifically designed by agents of mischief to disrupt the relative peaceful ambience enjoyed in the State by inciting violence and civil disturbances”

It further stated that “no notice of eviction was pronounced by any individual or group on anyone at any period in time.

Furthermore, the statement said the Commissioner of Police has tasked the supervising Area Commander in charge, to personally lead confidence-building patrols, as well as to increase the visibility of personnel around the jurisdiction, while more command’s operational, intelligence and tactical assets have since been deployed to prevent any untoward occurrence” it concluded.
