The inspector-general of police (IGP), Tunji Disu, on Tuesday visited survivors of the bombings in Maiduguri, the Borno capital, and carried out an assessment of security at key locations affected by the attacks.

The Borno State Police Command confirmed that 23 people were killed, while 108 others were injured in bomb blasts across three locations in Maiduguri on Monday.

The explosions, which occurred at about 7:24pm, targeted a main market, the gate of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, and the Post Office flyover.

Disu visited the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH), where victims of the blasts are receiving treatment.

He met with the injured and their families, offering condolences and assuring them that the police are working to identify and dismantle the networks behind the attacks.

The IGP also visited the Monday Market, one of the locations targeted, to conduct an on-the-spot security assessment.

During the visit, Disu engaged with local security personnel to review operational readiness and strengthen coordinated response efforts.

He also visited the Borno State Government House and the police command headquarters in Maiduguri as part of efforts to improve collaboration between federal and state security agencies.

Disu said security has been reinforced across Maiduguri and surrounding areas, with increased patrols, enhanced surveillance, and joint operations aimed at preventing further attacks.
