Usman Baba, the Inspector General of Police, has ordered Olaleye Faleye, the Commissioner of Police for Osun Command, to look into the allegations of an assault on female Police Inspector Bamidele Olorunsogo by her DCO, Ajayi Matthew, in the state’s Ode-Omu region.

This happened after a video of a beaten and assaulted Bamidele went viral on social media.

Bamidele, a senior colleague at the Ode-Omu Police Divisional Headquarters in Osun State, accused Matthew on the video of assault and extortion.

The policewoman claimed that when Matthew asked her out on a date and she declined since she was married, he continued to threaten her with blackmail and eventually beat her.

She said, “What is my offence? He started beating me to the extent, he stripped me. Look at my chest, arms, everywhere, there are injuries. He’s Ajayi Matthew. He asked me out, that I should befriend him. I said no, that I’m a married woman.

“He started blackmailing me, claiming that he’s my lover, which is not true.”

Efforts to get through to Matthews to ask him about the claim proved abortive.

On Wednesday, the Police Force spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi stated that the Force Headquarters would wait for the Osun State Command to submit a report on the inquiry before taking any further action.

“We will await the report of the investigation from the Osun State Police Command before necessary actions are taken.

“We, however, assure the general public that justice will be done on this case, to protect the core values and ethics of the NPF,” Adejobi said
