IGP promises justice for Osinachi Nwachukwu’s family
Inspector-General of the Police Usman Alkali Baba has reassured Osinachi Nwachukwu’s family that justice will be served.
It was during his meeting with Minister of Women Affairs Dame Pauline Tallen at the Louis Edet House, Force Headquarters, Abuja, on Wednesday that he gave the assurance.
It’s worth noting that Osinachi’s husband, who has been accused of assaulting her and ultimately killing her, remains in police custody, as reported by the IGP.
He said that the FCT Command of the Nigerian Police Force arrested the husband of the deceased at their home in Lugbe, Abuja, on Sunday, April 10, 2022, at around 5 p.m.
While lamenting the singer’s demise, he said the situation is more heartbreaking as information from sources close to the family and independent witnesses accused the husband of being responsible for her death.
On her part, the minister said she was at the IGP’s office to discuss issues affecting women in Nigeria, especially in relation to gender and domestic-based violence.
Gender-based violence in Nigeria is on the rise, according to Tallen.
She pleaded with the chief of police to expedite the prosecution of the case in order to serve as a warning to potential criminals.
