I’m not distracted by Rivers crisis – Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Friday, said he is unperturbed or distracted by the festering political crisis in Rivers State, and maintained that his primary objective is to deliver on the mandate given to him by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

This is even as Wike also revealed that
President Tinubu will from the 27th of May, embark on a 9-day inauguration of various completed projects across the FCT.

The Minister who announced this on Friday after project inspection, said the project inauguration which will commence from the 27th of May will end on the 6th of June.

Wike noted that the project inauguration is part of activities to mark the President’s one year in office on the 29th of May.

Some of the completed projects to be commissioned by President Tinubu include Vice President’s official residence, Abuja metro rail line and its access roads, AYA-Area 1 Expressway, Independence avenue, among others.

The Minister also disclosed that after the inauguration of these projects, his Administration will flag-off new projects such as the construction of Bus Terminals across the Territory, Court of Appeal Division and other critical projects.

“I am not distracted. If I am distracted you won’t see this performance here. I focus on my work. Am not interested, am the Minister of FCT, the works are going on. If distracted how will these works be progressing? Am not even thinking about it at all,” Wike assured.

According to Wike, “This is the final inspection as regards the preparedness for the inauguration of various projects.

“From what we have seen, we believe we are ready for the commissioning from 27th of May and will end June 6th. Is going to be a nine day long event.

“So, we are happy, and contractors are meeting up, and all the promises they made, they are have been fulfilled and we have also fulfilled our own part to make sure that we have cash backup. None of them is complaining in terms of cash,” Wike said.
