The passenger accused of assaulting airline officials aboard an Ibom Air flight, Comfort Emmanson, has released a statement after regaining her freedom.

In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Emmanson confirmed she had regained freedom, adding that she was still in pains in the wake of the incident.

She promised to tell her side of the story after some rest and medical treatment.

“Thank you so much for all the Prayers, Love, and support. I’ve been released from the Prison, but I’m still in pains due to how I was treated,” she said.

“I just need some rest and medical treatment before I give out my own version of the event.

“Thank you so much my Lovely Friends and Supporters. I really appreciate y’all from the bottom of my heart. God bless y’all.”

BACKGROUND

On Monday, the police filed charges against Emmanson, resulting in her being remanded in prison.

The previous day, she had a confrontation with Ibom Air officials on a flight from Uyo to Lagos.

During the altercation, she was forcibly removed from the aircraft, and her clothes were torn, leaving her partially exposed.

The incident sparked widespread reactions, with many Nigerians criticising the actions of the airport officials.

On August 13, Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, announced that Ibom Air had withdrawn its complaint against Emmanson and lifted the lifetime flight ban previously imposed on her.
