Imo Attack: CP Aboki Danjuma deploys team to hunt assailants of Policemen

The Commissioner of Police for Imo State, CP Aboki Danjuma, has condemned the attack and brutal murder of four police operatives and a civilian by gunmen suspected to be members of the Proscribed IPOB/ESN. He has deployed the command’s tactical units to track down the perpetrators.

The operatives were ambushed and killed while on routine patrol at Irete along the Owerri-Onitsha express road, with a civilian also fatally injured during the exchange of gunfire.

According to a statement from Police Public Relations Officer ASP Henry Okoye, upon learning of the incident, the Commissioner of Police promptly visited the scene to assess the situation. He oversaw the removal of the deceased from the scene and had them transported to the mortuary for preservation.

The injured civilian was taken to a nearby hospital and is currently receiving treatment.

He said, “The Commissioner of Police expressed sadness over the unfortunate incident and vowed that the Command will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the perpetrators are all arrested and brought to justice, stressing that the miscreants responsible for the senseless attack have murdered peace.

“The tragic incident serves as a painful reminder of the daily risks and sacrifices Police officers embrace in their unwavering commitment to public safety.

“CP Aboki Danjuma commiserates with the families of the deceased victims and prayed for the repose of their souls.”

The Commissioner of Police has urged the public, especially residents of Ogbakwu, to come forward with any information that could help the police capture those responsible for the attack.
