Imo govt speaks on reports of booking all hotel rooms for election

Imo State Government has categorically denied any knowledge of plans to book all hotel rooms in the state for the upcoming gubernatorial election.

The government categorically dismissed the opposition’s claim that it intended to allocate N5 billion to reserve and secure all hotels in the state to prevent the influx of thugs.

Hon. Declan Emelumba, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, stated to the press in Owerri that the government had no knowledge of such an arrangement.

He clarified that the government has never engaged with stakeholders via social media: “The government is not aware of any such hotel bookings. The government does not correspond with stakeholders through social media and will not do so”

However, he acknowledged that the government was cognizant of the opposition’s intentions to inundate the state with unruly individuals prior to the elections. He stated that this issue was being handled in coordination with the relevant security agencies for appropriate measures.

Emelumba characterized the claim that the government was importing troublemakers from neighboring states to manipulate the election as baseless and foolish. He asserted that, contrary to such suggestions, Governor Hope Uzodimma and the APC would secure victory in a fair and open competition.

Said he, “ the opposition knows that they have already lost the election. That is why they are fabricating all manner of lies to distract the government, like this hotels propaganda.”

He urged the voters of Imo to disregard all the strategies employed by the opposition and concentrate on re-electing the governor for a deserving second term, allowing him to continue his commendable initiatives.
