The Lagos State House of Assembly has dismissed former Speaker Mudashiru Obasa’s assertion that he remains the Speaker, reaffirming its support for the newly elected Speaker, Mojisola Meranda.
In a statement signed by Ogundipe Olukayode on behalf of the Assembly, it was clarified that over two-thirds of the lawmakers are united behind the decision to impeach Obasa on January 13.
“The position of the House remains unchanged. The stance taken by former Speaker Rt Hon Obasa is unwarranted and unparliamentary,” the statement read.
The Assembly emphasised its commitment to good governance and maintaining a harmonious relationship with other branches of government.
Olukayode urged Obasa to prioritise peace and unity, following the example of others in the Assembly.
